Last Saturday I sat off on a big travel day with some wonderfully adventurous friends. We were meant to be a group of 10 but germs struck before we left and one of our friends had to stay behind. That was a heartbreaking choice as a trip like this requires so much planning, training and financial commitment, but sadly, we were down to 9.
Most of us flew into Las Vegas while my step sister Susan, and Deb drove an RV to meet us. We spent our first night in Kingman and drove the next day to Grand Canyon Village to drop our bags at the Mule Barn and check into rooms at the Maswik Lodge. For half of the group, this was our first glimpse & experience with the canyon and it was immediately awe-inspiring!
We attempted to sleep before our big hike but the nervous anticipation coupled with excitement and a bit of fear made the 4am alarm a welcome sound. We were ready!!
